Custom Bluetooth speaker enclosure
This project came about due to a new-found interest for electronics, audio and upcycling. I found an old Logitech Bluetooth speaker (with an outdated dock for iPhones/iPods), which was going to be discarded by its previous owner. I quickly found an adapter for the latest iPhones and the speaker still worked.I would however never use the speaker in its current outdated state. As I was getting more comfortable on the CNC router and scored some laminated rosewood, I decided to make my own enclosure. The intention was to gut the Logitech speaker of all its components and install them in the new enclosure. Unfortunately after seeking assistance with a component on the original speaker, we ended up breaking it and all I had left was the enclosure, which to this day seeks to up-cycle an old Bluetooth speaker that I can give my partner, who has been patiently waiting.
Design.
The aim was a clean, modern design. The grill was fashioned with my former business logo (Wolf and Void) and was cut on a laser cutter out of high grade plywood. The level of detail is possible on the CNC, but the engraving wouldn’t have come out the same way and it was far more efficient designing the grill for laser cutting/engraving. I planned to have the power switch and BT pairing button on the top, as well as a battery indicator. All these components/switches were metal and were going to be complimented by a leather strap.
Edit: After days of back and forth, I have donated the enclosure and it didn’t make it into the container for the journey to Europe.
