TELLUS

An alternative Asteroids.

Arcade

Background.

Tellus was the first game I ever made and was part of my games design degree back in 2010. Almost 10 years later I decided to make it in Unity and breathe some fresh air into the project.

The original assignment was to take a classic game (in this case Asteroids) and replace a core mechanic.

The project ended up getting a lot of attention due to its visuals. It was my intention to use colours and the introduction of particles got me excited. Everything was created using shapes, rather than images, which allowed me to focus on colours and sizes - a refreshing limitation.

The challenge lies partly controlling the ship, which adheres to classical mechanics.

Play.

Save the planet by blowing up space debris in beautiful color!

Use the arrow keys to control the ship and the z key to fire off a shockwave.

Play the game on itch.io

Tools.

  • Affinity Designer (Vector)

  • Built with Unity 2019.x (originally made with Processing)

  • SFX made with BFXR
